Another Tolkien inspired artwork.
Edit 2 : Added some more lights, still dark but a little more balanced.

Amazing. I love how you used Morgoth and the orcs for scale; that's one huge spider! :D

Thanks! I also painted Telperion and Laurelin, so I had to paint Ungoliant on scale. My understanding is that if it somehow poisoned two huge trees that were supposed to give light to an entire continent, that would be one colossal creeper. ;)

Thank you, you just described my fascination towards spiders. ;)

I don't really like spiders: (especially in my room!)
I've always admired their webs though.

I also liked the light effect in your drawing.
Ungoloit was always so fascinated with light, if makes me wonder
what she was like before she turned to evil.

GOD bless

I love it man. Is the spider inspired by Ungoliant?
Hmmm, when I give it a second look, it looks more like Shelob! ;D

It's supposed to be Ungoliant actually, although the environment was more vaguely inspired. Gloomweaver is another name for her.
It's okay to mistake her for Shelob, since I presume they would look similar in appearance. However, the mother would be colossal in size (at least if you consider she was big enough to suck the light out of the tall Trees of Valinor).

If you look closely, there is Morgoth atop the guard tower, persuading her to join him in his evil deeds ;). Notice he is but a toenail next to her, and he's a giant himself, if you compare him to the little orcs carrying torches in the battlements.

Right, I see!
It's because Shelob is ofcourse an offspring, that's why she looks like Ungoliant. But seeing the huge size of the spider, it must be indeed Ungoliant. Great drawing! I'd love to see some more Tolkien based stuff :)
